Helping business owners grow through acquisition, integration and business growth strategies. Fractional CFO · Accountancy Services · CFO Advisory & Transformation · FCMA · CIMA Member in Practice.
Most advisers focus only on the transaction or only on the numbers. My focus is on the whole picture — helping businesses make better decisions, execute with discipline and create sustainable value. — Scott Thomson · Founder, Factr Solutions
Scott Thomson is a Fellow Chartered Management Accountant (FCMA) and CIMA Member in Practice with extensive experience working with owner-managed and growth-stage businesses.
He founded Factr Solutions to deliver something the market too rarely offers — commercially credible financial advice and accounting services in the same practice, without the overhead of a large firm.
His background spans financial leadership, acquisition advisory, business restructuring and strategic finance across a range of sectors including financial services, manufacturing, eCommerce, healthcare and professional services. He understands not just the numbers, but the business behind them.
He is also a serving member of the Board of Trustees of The Princess Alice Hospice in Esher, Surrey, and is the Honorary Treasurer and Chair of the Finance and Risk Committee.
Factr Solutions reflects a belief that the best financial advice comes from people who have operated at the intersection of finance and business reality — not from those who have only ever worked in one or the other.
A senior finance practitioner with the certifications, sector breadth and platform fluency to operate as a commercially credible partner from day one.
Xero, Hubdoc, BrightPay, Syft, Figsflow — a modern, automated, integrated finance stack that scales with the businesses we serve.
The best financial advice comes from people who have operated at the intersection of finance and business reality — not from those who have only ever worked in one or the other.
Factr Solutions exists to be the calm commercial operator in the room — bringing structure, discipline and senior attention to ambitious owner-managed businesses, at every stage of their journey.
Integrity in everything we do. Trust isn't claimed — it's earned through how we show up, every time, across every interaction.
Considered and deliberate. Clear thinking applied to complex situations. We're comfortable slowing a process down to protect a good outcome.
Thorough, precise, taking pride in the work. We hold ourselves to the highest standards — in every detail, on every engagement.
Here for the long term. The partnerships we build and the outcomes we help create are designed to last well beyond completion.
Scott leads client-facing engagements alongside a small, senior team of practitioners — people who have held commercial responsibility inside organisations, not simply advised from the outside.
FCMA, CIMA Member in Practice. Senior commercial finance leadership spanning accounting, fractional CFO and acquisition advisory across manufacturing, healthcare and professional services.
Executive MBA and M&A advisor with deep general-management experience. Transaction perspective grounded in having actually run businesses — not just advised on them. Member of the Institute of Directors and Chair for London & the South East, UK Business Advisers.
Banking and credit risk background followed by over a decade in board-level finance and business management. A practitioner, not just an adviser — with the analytical rigour and inside-organisation perspective of a career built at senior level.
Where international business reach matters — particularly cross-border scaling, restructuring or trade — Factr partners with Collective Accounting, a cloud-first South African accounting practice led by Ross Thomson. A trusted referral relationship rather than a formal merger; the two firms share standards but operate independently.
Susan and Geoff bring the depth of experience that gives Factr its edge — careers built inside organisations, at the level where the consequences of financial decisions are actually carried.
A career built inside organisations at a senior level.
Susan brings a background that spans two distinct disciplines: the analytical rigour of a career in banking and credit risk, and over a decade working directly alongside boards in finance and business management roles.
What sets Susan's experience apart is that it has always been embedded inside organisations rather than advisory to them. She has led management information, fundraising and strategic finance initiatives as a practitioner — carrying genuine responsibility for the financial decisions and the outcomes that followed. She understands what boards need because she has been part of delivering it, not just advising on it.
She brings the commercial standards and the inside perspective of a career in larger organisations directly to bear on the owner-managed businesses Factr serves — alongside a breadth of experience in HR and payroll that gives clients operational as well as financial support from day one.
Transaction experience and operational leadership grounded in having run businesses.
Geoff brings to Factr something that is genuinely rare in advisory work: a career that has moved between doing and advising — between holding operational responsibility for businesses and working alongside leadership teams on the transactions and strategic challenges that define their trajectory.
His background spans M&A, consultancy and hands-on general management. That combination matters. His perspective on a transaction or a business challenge is grounded in operational reality — he has managed people, run businesses and made the difficult calls that sit behind the numbers. When he advises a client, he brings that experience with him, not just a financial model.
His experience with venture capital and private investors gives him a clear understanding of how growth businesses are evaluated, funded and prepared for the scrutiny that comes with external capital or a sale process. He has been on that side of the table — which means he knows exactly what acquirers and investors are looking for, and how to position a business to meet that standard.
The best way to find out if we're the right fit is to talk. Thirty minutes, no pressure, no obligation — just a direct conversation about what your business needs and whether Factr is the right partner to help deliver it.
